5-Day Meditation Retreats in Phuket
Five days to settle deeply, gain clarity, and develop
a deeper understanding of meditation and its purpose.
Our 5-day retreats offer a structured introduction to serious meditation practice in a relaxed and comfortable setting. The emphasis is on clear technique, consistent practice, and learning through direct experience, while still leaving enough space for rest, questions, and integration.
The retreats are suitable for beginners as well as experienced meditators. Groups are kept small, usually 10 to 15 participants, allowing for individual guidance and a more personal practice environment.
Our approach is rooted in traditional meditation training, clear instruction, and practical application. The focus stays on meditation itself, with authentic techniques and a clear framework for practice, in a setting that is more accessible and comfortable than a traditional monastic retreat. For many participants, this provides a solid foundation for longer and more intensive periods of meditation practice.
New Retreat Program
Starting Dec 28, 2026
Our new 5-day retreat program introduces two distinct retreats, Presence and Clarity. Regular 5-day retreats continue throughout 2026.
Presence and Clarity can also be combined as a 12-Day Meditation Retreat.
THE RETREATS
Presence & Clarity
Our two 5-day retreats share the same supportive structure, while each explores a different aspect of meditation. Both are complete retreats in their own right and can be attended separately.
Presence
Quieting the mind and resting more deeply.
Presence focuses on letting go, settling mental activity, and learning to rest in a quieter, more natural state of awareness. The emphasis is on simplicity, relaxation, and ease in stillness.
Clarity
Steadying attention and seeing more clearly.
Clarity focuses on stabilising attention, cultivating inner calm, and developing a clearer relationship with experience. The emphasis is on mindfulness, observation, and greater clarity of mind.
Join either retreat on its own, or combine both as a 12-Day Meditation Retreat.

MEDITATION & TEACHINGS
What We Practice
At the heart of meditation are simple questions: Why do we suffer? What makes the mind peaceful? And what are we beneath all the noise?
Our retreats explore these questions through traditional contemplative training, taught in a practical and non-religious way.
Refine
How we live
Notice what creates unnecessary tension and gradually let go of habits that make life heavier.
Settle
Stillness of mind
Develop stability, relaxation and presence so the mind becomes calmer and less scattered.
See
Clear self-inquiry
Look directly at experience and learn to hold thoughts, emotions and identity more lightly.
Rooted in Tradition
The teacher’s background is primarily in Tibetan Buddhist meditation, particularly the Gelug and Nyingma traditions, with additional influence from the Thai Forest tradition.
The retreat draws on this training while focusing on the practical foundations of meditation: refining how we live, developing stillness and learning to see experience more clearly.
No belief required. The retreat is non-religious in presentation and welcomes beginners and experienced meditators alike.
TEACHER & BACKGROUND
Meet Tobi
Tobi Warzinek began his contemplative training in 2002. At the age of 18, he entered the Tibetan Buddhist monastery of Rabten Choeling, where he spent around seven years as a lay student, studying Tibetan language, Buddhist philosophy, monastic debate, mind training and meditation.
From 2011 onward, after moving to Thailand, Tobi became increasingly interested in the Thai Forest tradition and its highly practical way of training the mind. This brought an already deep interest in meditation and direct experience much more fully to the foreground. After years in a strongly study-oriented monastic environment, he found the simplicity and immediacy of this way of practice deeply refreshing. Personal encounters with teachers such as Luang Phor Jumnian Silasettho further strengthened this direction. From then on, his practice became increasingly centered on direct investigation: what actually changes the mind, what reduces suffering, and what can be seen and tested for oneself here and now.
His teaching style is practical, warm and direct. The focus is on understanding suffering at its root and discovering what genuinely leads beyond it. Tobi emphasizes both cultivation and release: developing what is wholesome, settling the mind deeply, and learning to see, know and let go. Meditation is approached as a direct investigation of experience, not simply something to understand intellectually.

A Simple Daily Rhythm
The retreat begins with check-in at 15:00 on the first afternoon and ends before noon on the final day.
On Days 2 to 4, each day follows a simple rhythm of morning practice, meals, personal time, yoga, meditation and guidance.
FOOD & WELLBEING
Meals
Fresh, nourishing meals are part of the rhythm of the retreat. We begin with a shared Welcome Dinner, included for everyone.
Daily Meal Rhythm
Breakfast + Lunch • Evening Fast Encouraged
From the following day, we serve breakfast and lunch. Keeping the evening light can support a calmer body and deeper meditation.
Vegetarian food is recommended, but not required. Meat options are available on request.
Prefer dinner? It can always be ordered separately at the restaurant.
YOGA & MOVEMENT
Yoga Sessions
Yoga supports the meditation practice by helping the body release tension, move more freely and become comfortable in stillness.
Yoga for Meditation
Mobility + Breath + Relaxation
Open the body, deepen the breath and settle physical restlessness. The aim is simply to feel lighter, steadier and better prepared to sit quietly.
No previous yoga experience is needed. The practice is gentle, accessible and can be adapted to different bodies and experience levels.
QUESTIONS
Before You Book
A few practical things to know before you book.
Is this retreat suitable for beginners?
Yes. The retreat is designed to be accessible even if you have little or no meditation experience. Small groups, clear guidance and personal support make it easy to learn the fundamentals step by step.
More experienced meditators are equally welcome and often appreciate the opportunity to deepen their practice in a focused but relaxed setting.
The retreat may be less suitable if you are specifically looking for a highly austere, fully silent or solitary environment. Our program includes guidance, group interaction, excursions and personal reflection alongside meditation practice.
What is included in the retreat fee?
The retreat fee covers the meditation program, teachings and personal guidance throughout the five days. With the full program, it also includes daily yoga, breakfast and lunch, the welcome dinner on arrival day, morning excursions, and retreat materials.
You can adjust some parts of the program during booking if you prefer a more flexible retreat experience.
Accommodation is not included and is booked separately. Travel to Phuket, airport transfers and any additional meals or personal expenses are also separate.
Where should I stay?
The easiest and most relaxed option is to stay at Coco Retreat Resort & Spa, where the retreat takes place.
If you prefer to stay elsewhere, we strongly recommend choosing accommodation within easy walking distance of the venue. Staying nearby makes the retreat much simpler and helps you avoid unnecessary travel, traffic and daily transport arrangements.
Accommodation is booked separately and is not included in the retreat fee.
Is this a silent retreat?
No. Silence is encouraged, but it is not enforced. You are free to explore it in a way that feels right for you, whether for a few hours, a full day, or longer. We provide a simple silence card you can use whenever you prefer not to be approached, allowing you to deepen your practice without having to withdraw from the group completely.
Is this a religious retreat?
No. While Tobi’s background is rooted in Tibetan and Thai Buddhist traditions, the retreat is not presented as a religious program. The focus is on practical mind training, meditation and direct experience.
No particular belief, worldview or religious background is required. You are simply invited to explore the practices for yourself and see what genuinely helps create greater clarity, stability and freedom from unnecessary suffering.
What if I can’t sit cross-legged or have limited mobility?
You do not need to sit cross-legged to take part. Chairs are available for meditation, and you are welcome to choose a position that feels stable and comfortable.
If you have more significant mobility limitations, please contact us before booking. Some parts of the retreat include walking and outdoor activities, so we can help you decide whether the program will be suitable for you.
What should I bring?
Keep it simple and comfortable. We recommend bringing:
- Light, comfortable clothing for meditation, yoga and warm weather
- A hat and sunscreen for outdoor activities
- Light rain protection in case of changing weather
- A notebook and pen for reflections and personal notes
- Mosquito repellent for the evenings and outdoor sessions
Most everyday items are easy to find locally in Phuket, so there is no need to overpack.
