Difficult Situations and Hardship

by

This week we will have a look at difficult situations and how to deal with them. What to do when the mind worries day and night? What to do when there’s no way out? Many friends find themselves stuck at some point in their life. Tragedy strikes, friends leave, we loose jobs or have to endure a financial breakdown. Sometimes we are held back by ill health or have to keep up with other obstacles and challenges.

In short: Life is not always easygoing. Wouldn’t it help immensely if we knew what to do mentally in these difficult times? What is it that gets us through the tough times and how can we prepare for them? That’s what I will cover in this collection. I really hope that it helps you – at least a tiny bit. If you leave this site feeling more refreshed and inspired, do let me know in the comments below. Now, let’s get started!

EPISODE 149: When Nothing Works

This is the end of all doing. You have tried every single way imaginable and nothing seems to work? Your mind is spiraling out of control into a deep, dark hole of “Oh My God – This is Going to be difficult!” In this teaching I will discuss what to do when there’s no more doing left. We cover Surrender, Silence and Intuition.

EPISODE 150: How to Deal with Worrying

What to do when worrying takes over? Sometimes it’s not just worrying but we start to catastrophize – imagine wild crazy scenarios of what might go terribly wrong. WHAT IFS, COULDS and WOULDS take over and drive us crazy. Just imagine you could actually deal with this relatively useless state of worrying…

Sometimes our mind will play through negative and terrifying scenarios and we get paralyzed by worrying, catastrophizing and fear. It is a fact that these states are not helpful when it comes to moving on and finding creative solutions. The function of worry and anxiety is to keep itself alive and give us an unhealthy direction in life. That’s why I have decided to write this article in which I will discuss a few ways that will help you to deal with the dark side of hope.

  1. Thanks Toby!! This came a great time – found myself playing the same story on repeat now for the past couple of days… really great reminder to not empower the stories and loved the suggestion re: reflecting back on what the optimal solution would be. Hope you’re well (er, I mean I hope you “are”)

    • Thanks Farhaz, I am well 🙂 I hope you are too! Yes, that’s where it’s at. Not giving power to the horror-stories. After all, anything could happen, so why pick only negative options, right? 😀
